The Art
of Batik
An exclusive evening unveils Kanazawa’s geisha
culture. Led by a guide, guests stroll through Kazue-
machi and Higashi Chaya before arriving at
Kenrokutei, a renowned restaurant within Kenrokuen
Garden. A refined kaiseki dinner is paired with a
traditional ozashiki performance, featuring dance,
song and shamisen. The night ends with relaxed
conversation, classic drinking games and photos
with the geisha.
A hands-on introduction to Indonesia’s batik tradition
reveals the artistry behind this UNESCO-recognised
craft. Guests visit the home and workshop of master
artisans to learn traditional techniques, from wax
application to dyeing, and create a personal batik piece
to take home. The experience concludes with a relaxed
lunch in Yogyakarta, where a local chef presents a
tasting of Javanese specialities, accompanied by
stories behind each dish.
